\u201cPathways from Past to Future\u201d is the second phase of a participatory process that began with Taking Care of Our Destination Together<\/em><\/strong>, an initiative that aimed to co-create a trail that celebrates active transportation, culture, local landscapes, and heritage in Sutton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by the Corporation de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de Sutton<\/em> (CDES), in collaboration with the Town of Sutton, this second phase of the initiative focuses on creating immersive, educational experiences\u2014both through a physical walking trail and an interactive digital platform\u2014to support sustainable tourism in the region. This chapter of the project builds on the strong momentum of Phase 1, which engaged over 400 community members.<\/p>\n\n\n

This initiative is made possible thanks to financial support from the Government of Qu\u00e9bec through the \u201cDestination durable et action concert\u00e9e<\/em>\u201d program, coordinated by the Fonds d\u2019action qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois pour le d\u00e9veloppement durable <\/em>(FAQDD). The project contributes to the goals of the 2030 Plan for a Green Economy<\/a> and Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s 2020\u20132025 Action Plan for Responsible and Sustainable Tourism<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is guided by three key goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Showcasing Sutton\u2019s Heritage and Landscape<\/strong>
    <\/strong>Highlight Sutton\u2019s natural and cultural heritage within a slow tourism experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sustainable Mobility and Trail Networks<\/strong>
    <\/strong>Develop local trails with a low carbon footprint.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Local Economy and Community<\/strong>
    <\/strong>Connect the local businesses to a centralized, user-friendly platform.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    A number of important steps have been taken since the beginning of 2025 to achieve these goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Close collaboration with the Town\u2019s Planning Department and Sustainable Mobility Advisory Committee<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Consultations with 25 landowners<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Identification of three potential trail corridors<\/li>\n\n\n\n
