The Urban Plan and By-Laws are <strong>fundamental tools<\/strong> for addressing current challenges and guiding decision-making regarding land-use planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1: Revision of the Urban Plan<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Urban Plan must embody <strong>a collective vision for the development of the territory<\/strong>. Its development must therefore be carried out in a way that is inclusive, clear, and transparent to the citizens of Sutton, ensuring the integration of the mandatory content prescribed by the Act respecting land use planning and development (LAU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Town of Sutton\u2019s Urban Planning and Land-Use Department, in collaboration with urban planning and land-use consulting experts from L&#8217;Arpent, carried out the entire revision process\u2014including numerous public consultations\u2014leading up to the adoption of the Town of Sutton\u2019s new Urban Plan in October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2: Revision of the Urban By-Laws<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>January 2026<\/strong>, the Brome-Missisquoi RCM confirmed the compliance of the new Urban Plan. Since then, the Town of Sutton has been actively working on revising its Urban By-Laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This pivotal stage marks the implementation of the adopted Urban Plan: it involves turning the collective vision into effective regulatory tools tailored to Sutton\u2019s territory and realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conducted in <strong>collaboration with the community, municipal staff, and the Town Council<\/strong>, this initiative aims to update and optimize the by-laws to align them with the guidelines of the new Urban Plan, while incorporating recent advances in urban planning and land use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the revision process, several <strong>consultation activities<\/strong> are planned to be conducted to encourage citizen participation and community input into the revision work. As with the revision of the Plan, the goal of these activities will be to establish and maintain a dialogue with the public throughout the process. In addition, the results of consultations conducted in recent years will be used to update the Urban By-Laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Dream Sutton<\/strong> platform will serve as the main communication tool for tracking our revision process.
