{"id":4301,"date":"2026-06-05T11:53:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T15:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/?p=4301"},"modified":"2026-06-05T11:55:49","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T15:55:49","slug":"draft-urban-by-laws-pre-consultation-period-open-until-june-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/en\/draft-urban-by-laws-pre-consultation-period-open-until-june-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft Urban By-Laws Pre-Consultation Period Open until June 18"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In preparation for the public consultation meeting scheduled for June 25, Sutton residents have the opportunity to take advantage of a pre-consultation period offered by the Town to ask questions on specific points and submit comments or suggestions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" src=\"https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Visuel-reglmt-preconsult-EN-1024x538.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Visuel-reglmt-preconsult-EN-1024x538.png 1024w, https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Visuel-reglmt-preconsult-EN-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Visuel-reglmt-preconsult-EN-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Visuel-reglmt-preconsult-EN.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As announced in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/en\/adoption-of-draft-urban-by-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">May 29 edition of<\/a>&nbsp;our newsletter, the Town of Sutton adopted eight Draft Urban By-Laws at its special council meeting on May 27, to implement the vision of the new Urban Plan adopted in October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Carte-plan-zonage-reception-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-115731\" style=\"width:348px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All\u00a0<strong>documents are available online<\/strong>\u00a0on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/revons.sutton.ca\/en\/projet\/revision-of-the-urban-plan-and-by-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dream Sutton<\/a>\u00a0website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two\u00a0<strong>printed copies<\/strong>\u00a0are available for public consultation at the reception desk of the Town Hall and at the Municipal and School Library, during opening hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two\u00a0<strong>large zoning maps<\/strong>\u00a0have also been posted in the reception area of the Town Hall, so you can see which zone you\u2019re in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedure for submitting your comments and\/or suggestions<br>in two steps<strong>:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1) Pre-consultation period until June 18, 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although not required by law, the pre-consultation process was put in place by the Urban and Land-Use Planning Department in order to better serve citizens and prepare for the official consultation on June 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Please note!<\/strong>&nbsp;This pre-consultation is intended only for people who have read the preliminary version of the regulations submitted on May 27, based on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sutton.ca\/en\/adoption-of-draft-urban-by-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">documents posted online<\/a>. Its purpose is to enable them to obtain clarifications or make suggestions following their reading, in preparation for the official public consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How can I take part?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<strong>Send us your written comments<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 By e-mail<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can submit your comments on the Draft Urban By-Laws until June 18, 2026 by e-mail to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:urbanisme@sutton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">urbanisme@sutton.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please include in your text :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your first and last name;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your complete mailing address and telephone number;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The name of the regulation and the page number(s) or section(s) concerned by your questions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your comments or suggestions, written clearly and precisely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<strong>Meet the administration&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 By appointment in person or virtually<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A team from the administration is ready to meet with you if you wish to ask questions in person or discuss&nbsp;<strong>specific&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>points of<\/strong>&nbsp;the new urban planning regulations. It is essential that you have read the documents posted online&nbsp;<strong>beforehand<\/strong>, as these are not preliminary meetings or detailed presentations of the by-laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To schedule a meeting (in person or virtually) with a member of our team, please submit your request by e-mail to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:urbanisme@sutton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">urbanisme@sutton.ca<\/a>or by phone at 450 538-2290, option 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to prepare for this meeting, please include in your message :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your first and last name;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your complete mailing address and telephone number;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The name of the regulation and the page number(s) or section(s) concerned by your questions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The specific points you wish to discuss at this meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following this meeting, if you wish to make formal comments, you will need to submit them in writing by following the process described above in \u201cSend us your written comments\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2) Official public consultation on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As provided for in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/fr\/document\/lc\/A-19.1?langCont=fr#ga:l_i-gb:l_iii-h1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Act respecting land use planning and development<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;(LAU)<strong>,<\/strong>&nbsp;a public consultation session will be held on June 25 on the Draft Urban By-Laws adopted on May 27.
